Apple Adds Ping Social Network to iPad

Posted on November 16, 2010 by editor

Apple has quietly updated iTunes for the iPad and has now added Ping, their new social networking service. There's nothing to download in order to start using Ping. The new features will automatically appear when you launch the iTunes app on your iPad.

Once you launch iTunes on your iPad, simply tap on the Ping icon on the bottom of the screen and you can quickly check the activity of all the artists you are following. You can also edit the list of artists you're following or check to see who is following you. Users can use their iPad to check their Ping profile and check on concert dates for selected artists, all with a few simple taps of their fingers.

Apple adds Ping to iPad which ping is Apple's new social network for music. Ping lets users follow their favorite artists, see the artist's favorite music, get up-to-date artist photos, news, and status updates. Ping members can create a profile page and then can share their music tastes with friends. Ping is also integrated into iTunes on the Mac / PC, iPhone and iPod.

Ping for the iPad was originally supposed to be released with iOS 4.2. With the recent iOS 4.2 delays, Apple apparently did not want to hold the new feature back and decided to roll it out to iPad users before iOS 4.2 becomes available later this month.
